With its clear mountain streams, snow-covered peaks, dense woodlands and lush meadows, the Vigezzo Valley is the ideal spot for mountain lovers and anyone looking for an invigorating contact with nature.  The whole valley from Druogno to Re offers the visitor contact with mountain villages which have preserved their traditional rural architecture, full of picturesque corners which recall the past. 

Dozens of ancient mule-tracks and paths wind through the Valley and from the villages up into the mountains, towards the high summer pastures. Several well-marked itineraries (for walkers or mountain bilkers) start from near the Hotel Miramonti and lead through woods and upland plateaus to rewarding viewpoints. 

But trekking is not the only activity to bring you into contact with nature. The valley offers a variety of sports. You can fish in the mountain streams, mountain-bike enthusiasts will love the itineraries along the valley’s cycle track, and tennis, swimming, rock-climbing and horseback riding are all well catered for. If you prefer the solitude of the woods, birdwatching may be the activity for you.  

Snowy winters invite you to try snowboarding and Alpine skiing on the spectacular Piana di Vigezzo, the modern ski area accessible from Santa Maria by a new cableway. Nordic skiers will love the extensive track linking Druogno, Santa Maria Maggiore and Malesco. 

Children will have a great time at the Baitina snow park in Druogno, with bobsleighing, tobogganing, snow tubing or just playing in the snow on inflatable slides. There is a large open-air ice-skating rink in Malesco.
