The scenic railway

A famous scenic light railway, better known as the “Vigezzina”, runs along the length of the Vigezzo Valley from Domodossola to Locarno in Switzerland. This quintessential Alpine railway crosses enchanting landscapes dominated by woods, rocky mountains, streams and waterfalls, and gives its passengers the chance to see breathtaking views at close quarters.

With the Hotel Miramonti located not far from the railway station of Santa Maria Maggiore, visitors can walk from the hotel to the station and catch a train to Domodossola, the town at the heart of the Ossola Valleys, or to Locarno, the Swiss town on Lake Maggiore. 

You can even take your bicycle with you, spend the day exploring and cycling back to the hotel in the evening.
Another idea is to do the unforgettable round tour of the Lake Maggiore Express, which takes you by train through the Vigezzo and Centovalli valleys and then by boat on Lake Maggiore.
