A taste of Vigezzo
With its rich history, the whole of the Vigezzo Valley has a long tradition of offering its visitors delectable food. Wholesome recipes from this mountain environment, handed down from generation to generation, produce a cuisine that is traditional, unsophisticated and genuine.
All through the valley, in villages like Re, Craveggia, Malesco and Santa Maria Maggiore, you can find this traditional cooking based on the high quality produce of the area. Most famous is perhaps our “black bread” or “crescenzin”, a round loaf baked with walnuts, grapes, figs and raisins.
Mouth-watering specialities are cheeses straight from the high pastures, spicy cold cuts such as “violino di capra” (cured leg of goat) or the renowned Vigezzo smoked ham. The valley also boasts speciality cakes, jams and delicious honey from the Valley flowers: acacia, linden, rhododendron.
This wholesome cuisine forms the basis of our menus in the Miramonti’s restaurant, with traditional recipes using local produce transformed by the creative imagination of chef Sandro.
